Selected by Juror Tammy Nguyen, VCUarts Painting + Printmaking MFA Candidate and Fall 2019 Publishing Grant recipient John Chae presents a calendar inspired by the ubiquitous Korean church calendars of his childhood and his research on the mind-bending history of time. Chae’s calendar combines elements of Chinese, Japenese, and Korean imagery with historical anecdotes, inventions, and cosmic markers of time. Weaving Workshop with Visiting Artist Hellen Ascoli at the ICA

Drawing on her experience as a museum educator and her own Guatemalan heritage, sculptor Hellen Ascoli will lead a family-friendly, bilingual weaving workshop at the ICA at VCU.
