Score for the Big Bang

Score for the Big Bang is the primordial sound released through the original instrument, that primal medium of devotion and despair—the human voice. Artist Ander Mikalson (MFA '12) worked with University of Virginia astrophysicist Dr. Mark Whittle and Pulitzer Prize winning composer Caroline Shaw to translate the sound produced by the Big Bang into musical notation. The resulting score for choir and pipe organ is eight minutes long, approximately one minute for every 50,000 years of the early universe. The composition is based…

Jennifer Lange: Visiting Critic Lecture

Jennifer Lange is Curator of the Film/Video Studio at the Wexner Center, an artist-in-residence program which offers in-kind post-production support to filmmakers and video artists. Lange also curates The Box, the Wexner’s dedicated video exhibition space. Lange curated the 2014 exhibition Cruzamentos: Contemporary Art in Brazil, Shimon Attie: MetroPAL.IS (2013) and Sadie Benning: Suspended Animation (2007).

Join us for a Visiting Artist Lecture with Wade Folger MacDonald. Wade was born in Nashville, Tennessee to parents who had been opera singers. He was raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan where he earned his BA in Art Education from Western Michigan University. Upon graduation, Wade traveled extensively, conducting research in Germany and the Czech Republic.
