Remaking The World In Aquatint

Free

The VCUarts Department of Art History presents, “Remaking The World In Aquatint,” a lecture with Douglas Fordham, Assistant Professor of Art History at the University of Virginia. This talk examines how the medium of aquatint shaped the message of British imperialism and supplied a growing market with images of distant places in the late 18th century. By remaking the world in aquatint, traveling artists and printmakers simultaneously remade what it meant to be British.
