CURRENT Art Fair
CURRENT Art Fair features Richmond region galleries exhibiting new artwork from regional, national, and international artists during a four day event held annually in Richmond, Virginia. The fair seeks to cultivate a community engaged with visual art through free general admission, panel discussions, and by building connections between collectors and local galleries through Patron Level programming.
Last fall, 1708 Gallery, ADA Gallery, Candela Books + Gallery, glave kocen gallery, Page Bond Gallery, Quirk Gallery, and Reynolds Gallery were the first exhibitors at CURRENT Art Fair (a word play aimed to give the fair a Richmond-centric name based on the iconic James River, highlight the fair’s contemporaneity and focus on the “new,” and suggest innovation through its reference to an electric spark). This fall, we will see the return of last year’s exhibitors plus new galleries and cultural partners for the 2017 event.
The fair has many VCUarts connections: several faculty and alum will be curators and exhibiting artists at the fair, including MFA alum and Quirk/VisArts resident Grace Kubilius, MFA alum and faculty Ryan Lauterio from Shockoe Artspace, BFA alum and faculty Claire Zitzow from SEDIMENT Arts, MFA alum Andrea Donnelly who will be presenting a panel talk on behalf of Reynolds Gallery, BFA alum and faculty Michael-Birch Pierce, and more.
CURRENT is also looking for volunteers – please contact CURRENTvolunteers@gmail.com if you are interested in participating in this year’s fair.
