Applicants to VCU art history who submit their materials by the scholarship deadline (usually December 1st) are automatically considered for funding. All other students (new and ongoing) are encouraged to apply for university, school, and departmental scholarships. This year, undergraduate art history students were awarded the Provost Scholarship, Dean’s Scholarship, Bonds Scholarship, Judith Godwin Scholarship, Regina Perry Scholarship, Maurice and Josie Bonds Scholarship, and the Bernice Gordon Scholarship. Opportunities to apply are announced to students each semester.
Students are also encouraged to pursue university-sponsored opportunities for international research, study, and travel. In 2015, undergraduate students in the department of art history attended the Islamic art symposium in Doha, Qatar and spent a semester abroad in Germany, Italy, Guatemala, Mexico, Spain, and Paris.
While completing their degrees, students are encouraged to visit the University Career Center where advisors help explore options specific to career and professional goals.
