Over winter break, graduate student Naomi Edmondson conducted archival research in Paris and Grenoble, France, funded by the Fredrika & Paul Jacobs Merit Scholarship. Naomi consulted documents in the Bibliothèque nationale de France (Opéra and Richelieu sites), the Jacques Doucet collections of the Institut national d’histoire de l’art (INHA), and the library of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Naomi also saw a painting in the collections storage of the Musée de Grenoble (Jacqueline Marval’s 1903 Les Odalisques) that she is writing about for her qualifying paper.

Above Naomi is pictured alongside a work by Jules Flandrin (Jacqueline Marval’s partner) on display at the Musée de Grenoble
