Creative Arts Day Camp

Summer 2020 Program Overview

The Department of Art Education at VCUarts is offering the Creative Arts Day Camp for children rising into grades K-8. Classes are divided by age, and four classes are offered each session (K-1) (2-3) (4-5) (6-8). Summer 2020 will contain two sessions. Classes are held on the VCU campus and are taught by graduate and undergraduate art education students. The camp will provide students with experience in a variety of media including sculpture, digital media, printmaking, painting, drawing, bookmaking, fibers, and more. Each session will focus on a different theme so participants can sign up multiple sessions!

The Summer 2020 theme is “Dream & Discover.” Dream & Discover creates opportunities for students to go a step beyond what they might experience in the regular art classroom. We hope to create experiences that help students to engage with the world around them and have meaningful experiences with art. The camp will be organized into weekly sub-themes: Imagination, Environmental Discovery, Fantasy Adventures, and Community Discovery.

Lessons will change each week, so participants are encouraged to sign up for more than one session. A session is equivalent to one week. Each session will cost $250. Join our teachers for a summer of innovative art-making!
