I was born in Livingston, Montana and attended college at Montana State University in Bozeman. My first quarter, I was enrolled in a sculpture class taught by Barbara Cooper. Sculptors Deborah Butterfield and John Buck, who lived in Bozeman, also taught sculpture at M.S.U. The sculpture department opened up a magical world for me that I am still exploring. I chose to attend graduate school at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. The experience allowed me to articulate what was important to me in art making; personal meaning through the exploration of forms and materials. I have been living in Durango, Colorado since 1995 with my husband and daughter. The intrinsic beauty of the environment and solitude of place has been regenerating. My sculptural explorations are based on the natural world and my connection to it.
