In March 2013, I had a two-week residency at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. I created “Sower,” a 22ft. long by 11ft. high winged seed (maple seed) in homage to Van Gogh’s ink drawings and paintings of the same title. The sculpture, one of many “drawings-in-the-wild,” was made entirely from wattle construction, aided at first with natural twine. Only natural fiber twine was added to the site.
