Lora Beldon

Lora is an educator, independent curator, business owner of the Military Kids Art Project, and a conceptual artist. As a member of Urban Artists Amalgamated, she created Artists for Life, a citywide event that raised funds for AIDS research and featured artist/activist David Wojnarowicz. Lora is also an emeritus member and former director of the 1708 Gallery, the nation’s oldest running nonprofit art gallery. She was part of the 1708 Gallery’s controversial Carlos Guiterrez-Solana’s installation, “In Memoriam,” which generated a national debate on funding for the National Endowment for the Arts.
