Walsh began his career teaching part-time at the University of Windsor in the BFA in Acting programme. In 1997, he began a tenure track position, becoming Director of the School of Dramatic Art in 2002, on the day he got tenure. He was Director for 10 years and is in his second year of a five year term as Associate Dean, Academic and Student Affairs, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
He teaches acting, improvisation and psychophysical acting styles and is a certified teacher of the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique. Walsh is co-founder and artistic director of the Great Lakes Michael Chekhov Consortium, which offers teacher certification in the Technique through Kent State University, and of Michael Chekhov Canada.
