Kathryn Long made her professional operatic debut in the summer of 2009 as Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana with the Utah Festival Opera. While a student at VCU, Kathryn spent a semester studying abroad and received a performer’s certificate from La Sorbonne in Paris in 2003. She went on to pursue graduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music, where she received her Master of Music degree, graduating magna cum laude in 2007. She has won several first place awards in National Association of Teachers of Singing competitions, and was recently a finalist in the Concorso Lirico Competition (USA). She is fluent in French, and in addition to her musical studies had eleven years of formal dance training in ballet, pointe, tap, and jazz. She currently resides in Houston, Texas.
