Jessica Welton

Jessica Welton, who is currently pursuing her PhD in Art History, is a Scholar in Residence at the Amerind Foundation and on the Hopi Reservation in Tuscon, AZ conducting research. She chaired the session entitled “Native American Art and Artists: Three Thousand Years of Transmogrification” at the 2009 Southeast College of Art & Design annual conference. She has co-authored with Michael Schreffler “Peruvian Nationalism and the Paintings of José Sabogal,” and in 2008 she was awarded the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Arts Fellowship Award.
