After graduation I spent a lot of time thinking about what an art degree meant and why it was different from any other. I have opened a shop that specializes in unique textiles from around the world. I turned down 4 scholarships and my VMFA graduate fellowship in order to continue in this path. In the sixth year of a successful business I realised my art mattered to me the most despite lack of financial promise. In 2009 I received my MFA in ceramics from the University of Wales. In March 2011, I expanded my shop. I have hired help so I can have time to create. I stopped working in material based mediums. I use collage to create scenes that reflect the multicultural America. My work is on issues related to immigration and cultural identity. I can be found at a fotocopy shop on Mondays and Sundays.
