Jane Mattingly

Jane Mattingly is a second-year MFA Candidate, currently working as Dramaturg for Desire Under the Elms at Firehouse Theatre (October 2017) and for the world premier of River Ditty at Virginia Rep (April 2018). She recently served as the Assistant Choreographer for Spamalot at TheatreVCU and for Pippin at Maggie Walker Governor’s School, as well as performed in the After Orlando project at Richmond Triangle Players and in the 2017 Weekend of New Works Festival at Firehouse Theatre. This past summer, she was a theatre instructor for the Brilliant Summer program at Saint Catherine’s School in Richmond.

Jane is from Louisville, KY, where she spent many years acting and directing locally, as well as writing theatre reviews, preview articles, and artist profiles for the Louisville Eccentric Observer (LEO) Weekly and Arts-Louisville. She has a particular interest in new play development, which is largely owed to the years she spent reviewing Humana Festival productions at Actors Theater of Louisville, performing in the Derby City Playwrights Festivals, and helping workshop scripts for Whodunnit Murder Mystery Theatre. Her favorite acting roles include Laney in Crooked (The Bard’s Town Theatre), Penelope in Miranda Branson Branson Miranda (The Necessary Theatre), and Zatz in Women on Fire (Bunbury Theatre Company).

She has a BA in English from the University of Louisville and enjoys old-time Appalachian folk dance.
