Chauntee’ Schuler Irving is thrilled to be a second year MFA Theatre Pedagogy candidate at VCU. Favorite New York and regional productions include: The Lion King, Dreamgirls, Applause, The Producers, Murder Ballad, Everyday Rapture, Party Come Here, Smokey Joes’ Café, Once on This Island, and Crumbs from the Table of Joy, As the World Turns, Law and Order, The Onion News Network, and national commercials. Chauntee’ has trained and worked with The Actors’ Studio Drama School, The Barrow Group Theater Company, Alvin Ailey, and the Virginia Governor’s School for the Performing Arts. She has been appointed as a Jack Kent Cooke Scholar, Welsh Scholar, and has been nominated for a Barrymore Award for Best Actress in her role as Deena Jones in Dreamgirls. During her years of performing, she has taught theater workshops and partnered with Camp Broadway, On and Off Broadway, The Salvation Army, The African Children’s Choir, The Christian Youth Theater, many public and private schools, performing arts centers, and organizations all over the world to spread the healing power of the arts. Chauntee’ is a proud member of The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and Screen Actors Guild as well as the Actor’s Equity Union.
