New VCU Regalia!

Published on February 16, 2017

This May, our Commencement crowd will look a little different than in years past as we unveil updated academic regalia. The attached image features the refreshed options for bachelor, masters and academic doctorate students. Our new regalia will show VCU pride in graduation photos as well as at Commencement ceremonies across the world by our graduates who choose to pursue careers in higher education.

The updated academic regalia design:

ā— Was carefully selected in 2016 by a committee of VCU students, faculty, staff and administration and designed in conjunction with Oak Hall Cap & Gown
ā— Features the gold university seal custom-stitched and prominently featured on the front
ā— Is sustainably designed and made from 100% recycled plastic bottles

Regalia will be available for purchase by students during the Grad Fair events scheduled on Feb. 27 at the Jonah L. Larrick Student Center on the MCV Campus from noon to 6 p.m. and Feb. 28 and March 1 at Barnes & Noble @ VCU on the Monroe Park Campus from
11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Following the Grad Fair, regalia will be available for purchase at the Barnes & Noble @ VCU on the Monroe Park and MCV campuses.

Regalia prices, including cap, gown, hood and tassel are: bachelor set, $55.98; master
set, $76.98; Ph.D./Ed.D. set, $91.98; and professional doctorate set*, $59.98. Prices do not include sales tax.

A fund has been established to provide those with financial need assistance in purchasing regalia. Students may request an application for regalia assistance in person (Sitterding House, 901 Floyd Ave.) or via email (vcudean@vcu.edu). Applications will be accepted from March 13 to May 1.

If a graduate is unable to attend the Grad Fair or visit the bookstore, they may order regalia online at oakhalli.com/college/vcu beginning March 2. Caps and gowns will not be available at the Commencement ceremony.

We look forward to seeing our graduates proudly wear their new academic regalia in May!
