Ester Partegas was born in La Garriga, Barcelona in 1972, and lives permanently in Brooklyn, New York. She has received the Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant, New York, in 2004, the Generacien 2004 Award, Caja Madrid, in 2003, a Fundacien Marcelino Botin, and III Certamen Artes Plasticas para Javenes, both in 1999, as well as the Arte Joven 98 Award, Instituto de la Juventud, Madrid, in 1998. In addition to an extensive exhibition record, Ester has also secured residencies at the Chinese European Art Center, Xiamen University Art College in Xiamen City, Fujian Pr., China, the International Studio and Curatorial Program in New York, and the Quinzena de Art del Castell de Montesquiu in Barcelona.
