Computers & Labs
Computing and digital tools are integrated into all departments at VCU. Two dimensional image processing, video editing, three dimensional scanning, digital textile printing, three dimensional printing, CNC routing, animation and 3D virtualization are just some of the processes supported by the School of the Arts labs and facilities.
Most departments in the School have labs that are specific to the requirements of their discipline. Majors have access to all the facilities of their department and a number of labs are open to all School of the Arts students.
On the University campus, open computer labs are available for use by VCU faculty, staff and students. Locations include Cabell Library, Room B-8 and in the Commons Underground. If you’re looking for VCUarts computer requirements, this information is posted here.
Departmental Computer Requirements
All VCU students are required to have their own computer, preferably a laptop. Each lab in the school is geared to a specific purpose or technique and it is important for students to have the flexibility and portability of a personal computer. Keep in mind that each Department in the School of the Arts has it’s own hardware and software requirements. For a list of individual department requirements click here
