No matter your art form or scholarship, your work advances knowledge and understanding in your field and may also advance knowledge in other fields. As you begin to seek external partners, through grants and other funding, it is helpful to reflect on your long-term strategies to enhance and develop your career.
You’ve got the idea and the passion, now comes the work of fleshing out all the details into a fully-fledged project. While the details may seem unclear at this point, the process of planning and developing your project will provide direction, point out areas of concern, and give you a good idea of how to begin to craft a narrative and build a budget.
After developing your project idea, craft it into a compelling narrative that outlines everything you hope to accomplish. Don’t forget to make an obvious connection between your idea and the funding organization’s missions and goals. And don’t forget to always have another set of eyes look over the work after you feel you are done.
Your project’s budget is about more than just securing funds, it also helps you map out your project. The budget section of your proposal can be a little daunting, but as long as you remain organized and thoroughly account for every aspect of your project, you’ll be in good shape.
