Experience the New PoHo Gallery

Students: Apply for a chance to have your work featured in the new Pollak Pop-Up Gallery, also featuring new artists and upcoming juried contests.

The Department of Photography and Film now features a brand-new gallery of student and faculty-juried work on the 2nd floor of the Pollak Building. Two new contests are announced for the inauguration of the gallery events this year.

Art Foundation, Undergraduate and Graduate students will have the opportunity to submit to the new main PoHo Pollak Hallway Photo Gallery. Winners of the contest will receive the opportunity to have their photos printed and on display on the 6′ x 20′ foot feature gallery wall (min 40″ x 40″).

Submission guidelines include:
-Create a PDF including your name, department, academic class and contact info.
-1 to 5 samples of images you wish to print.
-Title, year, medium and dimensions for each image.
-Artist statement (max 350 words) describing the work.
-Deadline: October 14th.

All submissions and any questions will be sent to chunsj@vcu.edu with the subject headline: “HUMONGOUS Print Entry.”

An alternate Pop-Up Gallery submission theme for PoHo is also underway, juried by sound artist and Kinetic Imaging associate professor Stephen Vitiello

The theme, entitled “Is there an Ear in your Eye?” asks the question, “What do your pictures sound like?”

Exhibition dates are from October 17th-28th. Submission guidelines include:
-Create a PDF including your name and email address.
-Include 3 to 5 images.
-Include an artist statement describing the work (350 max.)
-Deadline: October 14th.
