Holding National Board Certification in early and middle childhood music and recognized as a Yale Distinguished Music Educator, Paul Bakeman has been an adjunct professor of Music Education at VCU since 2007, specializing in Orff Schulwerk and the community of drumming. He has been teaching K-5 general music in Hanover County, VA for the past 24 years. Paul was named Rural Point Elementary Teacher of the Year, and received the R.E.B. Award for Teaching Excellence. He holds the BM and MM in Music Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. He has published a recorder method entitled Recorder Connections that is used by music teachers both nationally and internationally, and in 2011 published a collection of marimba pieces for upper elementary and middle school students entitled Cooking with Marimbas.
