Marcey began her recruitment work for VCU Music as a student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a concentration in Arts Business and Development. During that time, she administered the Greater Richmond Youth Wind Ensemble (GRYWE) at its start and was co-director of the VCU Honors High School Music Institute. She began playing the flute at age 10 and still performs at area churches and other venues. She is also a member and administrator of Commonwealth Winds, a wind ensemble comprised of area music teachers and freelance musicians under the direction of Dr. Terry Austin, Director of Bands at VCU Music.
Marcey has served as VCU Music’s Admissions Assistant since January 2017. Previously, she worked as a supervisor for Kings Dominion’s Festival of Music and as Camp Administrator for Mid-Atlantic Camps, Inc. Marcey’s husband, Don, is a VCU alumnus and Director of Bands at Courtland High School in Spotsylvania, Va. Their oldest son, Matthew, a percussionist, is a current member of GRYWE; and their youngest son, Evan, is in the process of deciding which instrument to play when he gets a bit older.
