Sponsored by the Department of Kinetic Imaging, Matmos will be giving a guest lecture in The Depot second floor. Matmos is an experimental electronic music duo well known for their collaboration with Icelandic singer and musician Björk, both on studio recordings and live tours.
Despite being an electronic music group, they’ve played at many exhibitions including the Whitney Museum and the Baltimore Museum of Art. Most recently, they have been part of the ensemble for the Robert Wilson production “The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic”, featuring Marina Abramovic, Antony and Willem Dafoe. Their most recent album, The Marriage of True Minds, was released in 2013 by Thrill Jockey Records.
The duo will be performing at Black Iris Gallery (321 W Broad St, Richmond, VA 23220) on Monday, November 2nd at 8pm and will be giving a lecture at the Depot on Tuesday, November 3rd at 4pm.
The performance will be $10 for general audience and $6 for students. Tickets will be available at Steady Sounds as of October 26th.
