Experiments in Sound: Summer Workshops

VCUarts Kinetic Imaging is excited to introduce Experiments in Sound, a brand new summer series of continuing education workshops exploring sound as an art medium! Interact with sound in new, creative ways: build layered soundscapes, explore hidden vibrations, play with synthesizers, embed sound in everyday materials. What does the the James River sound like underwater? How do contact microphones work? Explore a range of topics while learning to use the latest professional sound equipment and audio software. Workshops are taught by local sound artists and Kinetic Imaging faculty, and many offer the opportunity to present finished projects in a culminating exhibition or performance.

Workshops are open to the public, ages 18 and up (ages 12-17 may participate if accompanied by an adult). Beginners are welcome! Workshops take place¬†between May 29 and June 30, 2018 at locations¬†on and around VCU’s Monroe Park campus.

Browse the full list of workshops here. Registration will open very soon – check back later this week!

Experiments in Sound is presented by VCUarts Kinetic Imaging in conjunction with Sound Arts Richmond, with support from The Anderson at VCUarts and Innovative Media at VCU Libraries.
