Tuition, fees and expenses

Tuition is determined by the student’s residency status, the number of credit hours for which the student is registered, the student’s course of study and the student’s classification level.

Financial Aid

The Office of Financial Aid is a service organization supporting Virginia Commonwealth University’s success, enrollment and retention goals by identifying and obtaining resources for students to pursue their educational goals; delivering funds in a timely and equitable manner; and educating students, their families and the VCU community to make informed financial decisions.

VCUArts & Departmental Scholarships in Dance

A limited number of scholarships are available to prospective VCU dance majors. Candidates are invited to apply based on their departmental audition. Candidates who qualify for a VCU Dance scholarship will receive an invitation to apply by mail following the audition process. Scholarships are based on merit and availability of funding.

Awarding of scholarships will be based on an evaluation of the applicant in each of the following areas:

• Talent and potential
• Motivation and drive
• Grade point average – 3.0 minimum, SATs
• Openness to a wide range of ideas
• Creativity
• Technical skill level
• Self-discipline
• Commitment to dance
• Positive leadership
• Commitment to dance in an academic institution
• Interest in, as well as commitment to VCU Dance

The scholarship application process will include an interview of the candidate with a VCU Dance faculty member or departmental chair.

Students who are invited to apply for this scholarship at an off-campus audition should plan to visit the VCU campus and VCU Dance program prior to attending, to be sure that the program is good match. Applicants must provide the following:

• Two letters of recommendation with names and phone numbers of two teachers, mentors or directors who can evaluate the candidate in relation to the areas listed above, and
• A letter of intent describing artistic and academic goals in relation to attending the VCU Dance and Choreography program

Scholarships will be awarded in amounts up to $2,000 – $8,000 per year and will be renewable for four years based on the student’s performance in the dance program (minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and demonstrated excellence in the areas listed above).
