MSHR, ‘Source Fold Compositor’
January 26 @ 5:00 pm - March 3 @ 5:00 pm
The Anderson is pleased to present “Source Fold Compositor,” an installation and performance by art collective MSHR.
Currently based in NYC, MSHR’s multimedia installations use audio and photo sensitive feedback systems to generate sculptural compositions of light and sound. Hand built synthesizers and other unique interfaces create an immersive, interactive experience of what the artists have called “cybernetic resonance.” For their exhibition at the Anderson, MSHR will create a new, user-activated light and motion responsive Virtual Reality environment.
Exhibitions will take place at the historic Anderson building from Jan. 26, 2018—Mar. 3, 2018, with an opening reception on Friday, Jan. 26, 5-9 p.m. and a special, live performance at 6 p.m.
MSHR is the collaborative project of Birch Cooper and Brenna Murphy. Originating in Portland, Ore., MSHR emerged from the art collective Oregon Painting Society in 2011. They have recently performed at MoMA PS1,The Museum of Arts and Design in New York, and Fotomuseum Winterthur in Winterthur, Switzerland. Their work meshes digital sculpture, analog circuitry and ceremonial performance.
