Creative Arts Day Camp

Summer 2017 Program Overview

The Department of Art Education at VCUarts is offering the Creative Arts Day Camp for children rising into grades K- 9. Classes are divided by age, and three to four classes are offered each session. Classes are held on the VCU campus and are taught by undergraduate and graduate art education students.  The camp will provide students with experience in a variety of media including sculpture, digital media, printmaking, painting, drawing, bookmaking, fibers, and more.

The Creative Arts Day Camp theme for 2017 is SustainART!  We will explore the social, political and ecological meanings of the word sustainability through the lens of art-making. Students will learn about ground-breaking artistic concepts, processes, and new media as well as investigate the role of the arts in history. Join our teachers for a summer of brand new lessons and innovative art-making! Lessons will change each week, so participants may sign up for more than one session!
