Summer 2014 Program Overview
The Department of Art Education at VCUarts is offering the Creative Arts Day Camp for children rising into grades K- 9. Classes are divided by age, and three to four classes are offered each session. Classes are held on the VCU campus and are taught by undergraduate and graduate art education students. The camp will provide students with experience in a variety of media including sculpture, digital media, printmaking, painting, drawing, bookmaking, fibers, and more.
The Creative Arts Day Camp’s theme is Up Close and Contemporary! Students will explore the fascinating world of contemporary art, learning about the artistic concepts, processes, and media of today. Join our teachers in a summer of brand new lessons and innovative art-making! Each week will be different, so participants may sign up for more than one session!

Call for Volunteers
We are actively looking for high school aged students to volunteer this summer as Camp Counselors at the Creative Arts Day Camp. Counselors are assigned to a specific class and provide a helping hand for our art teachers and campers throughout the day. We have a really fun group of kids this summer and a wonderful staff–this would be a great learning opportunity for any student who is interested in working with art or kids, and would also look awesome on a college resume!
If you are interested in volunteering this summer, please download the Volunteer Application, fill it out, and send it back to us. The application includes the camp times and dates. It would be great to get applicants who can dedicate time to more than one session, but that’s definitely not necessary! Also, interested applicants are welcome to contact assistant camp director Amy Williams via email with questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
