Investigation NOW: de/liberate and (un)earth
This semester, the Department of Art Education at Virginia Commonwealth University is offering an art-based multi-disciplinary educational program for 7th, 8th and 9th grade students. The program uses art as a form of inquiry to explore contemporary issues (to include concepts such as tension, risk, and distortion) that transcend disciplinary boundaries. Through the hands-on exploration of the contemporary, students will dig into how these ideas intersect and overlap in the real world. These classes take place for 6 three-hour sessions on Friday evenings and is taught by graduate and undergraduate pre-service art educators.
This program is for you if:
- You love thinking across boundaries.
- You enjoy experimenting with different ways of making art.
- You see art as an important part of the world.
- You want to dig deeply into contemporary art ideas.
