When Janey Comes Marching Home: Portraits of Women Combat Veterans
When Janey Comes Marching Home: Portraits of Women Combat Veterans
A collaboration between photographer Sascha Pflaeging and author Laura Browder, this series of photographic portraits and accompanying oral histories gives a powerful presence and voice to military women returning from war zones in Iraq and Afghanistan. The exhibition offers images and stories that are by turns moving, comic, thought-provoking, and heart-breaking.
When Janey Comes Marching Home was originally organized by the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, with generous support from the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the College of Humanities and Sciences, VCU. Administered by the Anderson Gallery, the exhibition’s tour is sponsored in part by additional funds from the VFH.
